Ukraine and Switzerland have officially strengthened their economic ties through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at long-term sustainability and growth. On January 21, 2026, within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev and the delegate of the Federal Council for Ukraine Jacques Gerber from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which launches a new large-scale economic sustainability program “Competitiveness for Ukraine’s Recovery 2026-2030.”
The program is designed to integrate Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into global value chains and significantly increase their competitiveness. While the initiative covers several high-growth sectors, the priority areas include agribusiness and food processing, sustainable construction, woodworking, mechanical engineering, and IT.

The program will be implemented in 10 regions of Ukraine and is synchronized with state strategies and the Ukraine Facility plan, which should ensure balanced regional recovery and job creation.
